§ 01 — Practice

Since 1988, Duncan Design Group has built rooms for people whose job is to make other people feel taken care of.

We are a Dallas-based interior design studio working almost exclusively in hospitality — restaurants, hotels, nightlife venues, fitness clubs, retail environments, and the exterior architecture that frames them. More than six hundred projects have carried our drawings from concept through construction.

The work is quiet on purpose. A well-designed room shouldn't announce itself — it should hold the moment the guests are already having. Materials that patina well. Lighting that flatters everyone at the table. Bones that survive a decade of Saturdays.

§ 02 — Principles

Four rules we don't break.

  1. I

    The room serves the guest.

Not the photograph, not the trend cycle, not the ego of the designer. Every decision returns to how it feels at the table.

  2. II

    Lighting is character.

It's what makes the food taste better, the conversation last longer, the second drink inevitable. We light before we furnish.

  3. III

    Materials should age.

Brass, oak, plaster, terrazzo, leather. The rooms we love now were built with the confidence they'd earn their patina.

  4. IV

    Bones outlast trend.

A well-planned kitchen line and a right-sized bar will still work in fifteen years. Finishes can be refreshed — the plan cannot.
